Coach P's Corner Recap

3-8-09-This past weekend the Lady Panthers Softball team traveled to Blount Co. for a three game series.
Their opponents were Cherokee High school which they lost 3-1; Sequoyah High School which we tied, because of time limit, 6-6; and Greenback High School which we won 3-2.
Over all, I was very pleased with the play of the Panthers. They have gotten better with each game and are coming together as a team.
The pitching is coming along quite well, but I'm most impressed with the batting from the Lady Panthers, they are putting the ball in play and that gives them an opportunity to make things happen.
The week ahead has the Lady Panthers traveling to Sevier Co. for a double header and then to Farragut on Thursday which are all district games.
The difference between this year and last mostly the attitude of the Lady Panthers, encouraging each other and challenging themselves and to get better. Things look good!
Coach P

The past week started off with the Lady Panthers traveling to Sevier Co. for a double header.
First game Lady Panthers with good pitching and good hitting and error free softball won their first district game 9-3. The second game although having a 2-0 lead, the error bug showed up. In the end the game ended with a 6-2 lost. Pitching was good and we put the ball in play.

Thursday traveled to Farragut and lost 10-0. We stand 1-2 in district play, but there is a lot of softball left to play.
In this league you have to keep the error's to a minimum and take advantage of every opportunity that you can. That's what good teams do. We are striving to get to that level and we are on our way.
The game on Friday against McMinn Central was canceled and at this point was not rescheduled.
The Big Valley Bash JV Tourney in Loudon is scheduled for th 21st and 22nd of March. We are on spring break this week, but the
Lady Panthers will practice on the Thursday 20th @ 12 noon at the Lady Panther Field.
Have a safe spring break ( make wise choices).
Thanks
Coach P

The Big Valley Bash JV tourney was an excellent idea . The girls that would not get that much playing time did get their fair share. It wasn't about winning, but about getting better so you can help the team in the future and how the players responded to different situations. We were pleased with what we saw. Most of all it was competitive and the girls played hard to the best of their ability.

NOW WELCOME TO AAA SOFTBALL

On Monday we took a trip to Central Lady Bobcats. Lost that game 16-0 in five innings. The Lady Bobcats have a good team and we are on our way to play at that level. The girls would not quit and that builds character.
Tuesday Lady Govs from William Blount came to Lady Panther Field and we lost 13-0. Is there such a thing as a good loss? Maybe hard to say. We need to be more consistent fielding, hitting, pitching. At times we are good, but doing everything more consistently will bring wins.
Wed at Heritage was a rainout
Thursday Anderson Co. Tourney was a rainout
We need the rain, but we hate it when we have to get games in.
Friday we have Loudon enough said.
